The late
lamented Metropolitan Augen Mar Dionysius was a versatile genius who could have
rewritten the destinies of the Orthodox Church in India. Had he not met with the
tragic car accident which took his life in the prime of life on 6th June 2007, the
history of this ancient Church would have been different.
The Metropolitan
was an administrator with a vision like his mentor His Holiness Baselios Marthoma
Mathews I of blessed memory. Yet he was a popular leader of the church who knew
the heartbeats of the grass-root level faithful. An able organizer, a champion of
progress who could read the writings on the walls of time, a sympathetic patron
of the poor and the needy, a bishop who understood the true meaning of ecumenism,
a leader who maintained friendships without being jaundices by caste-creed considerations,
a true orthodox believer who wouldn't budge an inch from the basic doctrines of
the Church.......words are insufficient to describe his "infinite variety." As is
written on the tombstone of Saint Vattasseril Mar Dionysius, his beloved namesake,
"Time cannot dim his glory." We welcome you to this special web-site which will
take you on a tour of this great Bishop's life, vision and Mission.
